For example, at Hillsboro visitors are often lucky enough to see turtles nesting while Lauderdale-by-the-sea offers wonderful opportunities for snorkeling near the Florida coral reefs. For the stargazing traveler, Hollywood beach beckons with its opportunity to see where part of Marley and Me was filmed before winding the evening away at the nearby Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

For those looking to do a little cultural exploring in the area, The Venice of America has plenty to offer. This is generally best experienced by taking a stroll down the Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District. This part of Fort Lauderdale is home to some of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the Museum of Discovery and Science, The Historical Centre, Broadway Centre and the Florida Grand Opera. Trendy and cultural, the area is also home to a number of Fort Lauderdale hotels, cafes and restaurants, making it an ideal base for exploring from.

Other popular attractions to visit on a trip to Fort Lauderdale include the Everglades Holiday Park and Butterfly World.

The Everglades Park is an attraction that absolutely must be experienced on a trip to Florida. Airboat tours are available, allowing you to see the glades and all of the creatures that inhabit the, from the safety and thrill of an airboat.

Butterfly World, although less popular than the Everglades, is a two and a half acre park containing some of the rarest collections of butterflies to be found in the world. In fact, so large is this attraction that it is considered the largest collection of butterflies in the world.
